#7 crewel for 3, 4, or 5 strands of thread.
#8 crewel for 2 or 3 strands of thread. This is the needle most often used for geometric smocking stitches. If you have trouble threading the #8 crewel, try a #7.
#10 crewel for 1 strand of thread. The thinner shaft makes it ideal for stitching on finer fabrics. Perfect for all embroidery stitches and shadow embroidery.
